The background

For many years I have taught about the enormous problems that Africa faces. As well, I had written about them in one of my books, Global Connections. Retirement gave me the opportunity to get off my butt and actually do something to help a little. The opportunity to do this followed a randomly heard interview on Sheila Rogers' show Sounds Like Canada on the CBC. She was interviewing a woman named Peg Herbert who was so moved about what was happening in the country of Lesotho that she started an NGO called Project Help Lesotho. This organization sends volunteers to Lesotho for periods of a few months to share their expertise there. I contacted Peg and before I knew it, I was making plane reservations and trying to decide what type of water filtration made most sense ...
In this first posting I only intend to start the description and so more will follow in the days and weeks to come. My departure is set for January 6th, althoughI will be flying to Amsterdam and spending a week in western Europe before heading on to Lesotho. Between now and departure, I will be giving background about the country and what I will be doing. I hope you find it all worth reading.
